Wow!! Written in 1950, this memoir about Ida and Louise Cook's experiences during the war years was incredibly moving. The stories shared in this book about the everyday courage, bravery and heroism of people during the war brought me to tears at multiple points. By far my favorite parts were Ida's stories about what it was like staying in bomb shelters during the Blitz in London and the ways Londoners came together. HIGHLY recommend this book for WWII aficionados.

As so often of memoirs written of the Nazi era, hope and selfless are the star

Amazing and a great sense of humour too! This book is also known as two other titles: We Followed Our Stars and Safe Passage.
