It’s the fastest book I have ever finished. Such a brilliant way of telling the story. I liked how he gave the reader the ability to get to know the main character,Laureth, more at each chapter.

Talking about the story itself; it was lighthearted , exciting and with fun conversations however at some point the progression of the story started to be boring especially at the last chapters. However, I was so disappointed with the ending; I had higher expectations. But the story itself could’ve been more reasonable especially when it comes to a city like “New York”, I think they had it quite easy.

Laureth’s character is smart , witty and more down to earth than her father. I really didn’t like him and I think that his actions are kind of stupid. I have to admit that I enjoyed reading the pages from his notebook and that really helped raising my expectations. I can say that I just love how he managed to connect the history with his theory of coincidence. It was my favourite part.

I do recommend this book, if you want to read something nice and just relax.

Interesting until the denouement, which seemed rather out of left-field.

This book follows Laureth who takes her younger brother to search for their father who appears to have gone missing. Laureth is 16 and has never traveled without an adult before and to make things more difficult she is blind and has to look after her brother as they search in an unknown city for their father.

This book started out so promising. I really liked the idea and I was really hooked from the start. There are some events that occur that are too convenient and not realistic. The scenes at the airport would never happen.

There was a lot of build up which I thought was leading to a dramatic ending but unfortunately, the ending was very disappointing. What did like was the relationship between the two characters I always enjoy seeing close sibling relationships in books. I also liked that the author used a main character who was blind. This added a different perspective that you don't see very often.

Overall this was an ok read but the ending left me slightly disappointed. It was a very quick read and I read the majority of it in a day.

4 stars. I had a lot of fun with this book! Not only is it intense and suspenseful as Laureth and Benjamin followed the clues left behind by their father, but it's ridiculously brilliant and slightly mind-bending as the story dives into the fascinating world of numbers and coincidences. It's just really a fun and quirky read overall.

This book was a pleasant surprise for me; the blurb didn't really pull me in at all, but I had to read it for the North East Teenage Book Award 2014 and I'm glad I did! I found it really intriguing and mysterious, as well as having some very philosophical, thought-provoking parts. The characters were great, and I love how the main characters was blind as it made the book even more unique and interesting. Yes it was a little far-fetched, but I don't think that took away from the overall book. The only thing that let me down was the ending. I thought it was very anticlimactic and almost a bit of a cop out, as though the author couldn't think of a dramatic ending so just wrote the easiest thing instead. In a way, it made the rest of the book a bit pointless since the events that took place didn't end up properly achieving anything. Overall I really enjoyed this book though, a solid 4 star from my first YA Marcus Sedgwick novel :D

This was this year's first selection for book club at work and unfortunately I was left disappointed, perhaps because I went in with expectations I shouldn't have. At least it was a quick read, it took me less than two hours to read. It was painfully boring, the ending was anti-climatic, and I felt that it was written for a much younger audience than I originally thought, it was almost too simple and took away from what could have been an interesting read.
