bookish1026's review against another edition

DID NOT FINISH: 16%

The first book in the series was interesting enough to make me try the second, but this just is not compelling in anyway. The characters, the story, the spice are all boring

Jesus Christ. This was SO good y'all. Miles and Stella's chemistry was top notch and I absolutely loved reading their story. And the smut, you guys, don't even get me started on it...it was fucking EXPLOSIVE. Like LORD HAVE MERCYYY because I was fanning myself and blushing so hard during those scenes hehe

Working on the review for this I realized this book has so many tropes and aspects I love! Grumpy x Sunshine is one my favorite tropes (next to enemy to lovers), and this had plenty opposites attract and grumpy x sunshine!!

Miles had my heart in Prey Tell when he meddled in Juliet and Chase’s relationship. This book however, showed how much he guards himself AND does everything he can to protect the ones he loved. Until Stella came along, it was never about him or what he wanted, and I think that was part of why his world got flipped upside down. She fought for him and cared for him, for who he was and not what he could provide. And despite Miles thinking otherwise, he deserves that!

This one of my favorite scenes that shows just that — no spoilers.

“She just stares at me. ‘I’m confused. At what point in the last day, or the last week, even, made you think I was still doing this for the money?’

Her words are like a dagger to my heart.

‘I’m trying to tell you that the money is gone,’ I try, hoping she lets me explain what an asshole I am. Hoping that she sees I’m not worth fighting for. Better to pull the Band-Aid off now than in eleven months.

‘And I’m trying to tell you that I don’t care,’ she hisses, shoving me. ‘Seriously? After everything tonight … the beach, the restaurant … I don’t care about the money.’ “

If the next story isn’t Liam and Zoe I don’t want it… just saying!

ABSOLUTELY LOVED the chemistry everything

So, so good!

I consumed this all in less than 24 hours. So good. Adored Miles and Estella and how well they worked together. Certainly looking forward to the next one in the series!
