After loving this book the first time it was read to my class in middle school i was hooked. I decided now was a perfect time to revisit this series and finally finish all the books. The Lightening Thief is still as good as it was 10+ years ago and never seems to loose its shine. Following Percy in his early stages of realizing he is involved in the wild world of Greek gods is the perfect combination of fantasy, fun, and mystery. The imagery of the lotus casino and camp halfblood sticks with you for years and years and it was so fun to enter their magical world again.

I'll have to try and review this later.

It just wasn't my cup of tea unfortunately. Didn't really connect to the characters and I found myself tuning it out, (audio version) I didn't even care enough to go back and listen to what I missed.

Do the characters get older through out the series like HP? Or do they stay this young forever. I think that might be part of the issue of not connecting is because of the age differences.

[A BIT SPOILER]

I read this after watching the Disney+ TV series and honestly there are so much changes and differences. I don't want to give more focus on the TV series bcs that's a different review. For this book, first of all, WHY THERE ARE SO MANY BLONDE PPL??? ANNABETH, LUKE, ANNABETH'S DAD. THERE ARE SO MANY OMFG. Second of all, I like how the gods feel so god-like and powerful. Especially the Big Three (while in the TV series, Ares and Hephaetus feel very god-like). Also, from what IK, Zeus is the most scariest god out of all 12. Even Hades. But in this book, he was the most considerate and understanding ever. And he didn't care when World War 3 is on the way. This contradict the TV series (again this a different review). Percy also was scared when he was in front Poseidon and Zeus. I like the book more honestly (very a typical statement lol) bcs of how Percy is in the book and the TV series. I love Percy book more TBH.

My 9 yo son loved this book! He wants to move right on to the next in the series but we have some other library books to get through first.
