Before getting into Dragonfly in Amber, I read this little Outlander prequel novella, which gave some insight into the lives of bestfriends Jamie and Ian before the Outlander series takes place. I loved seeing the banter between young Jamie and Ian and I think the story gave some more depth to their friendship. Jamie is probably one of my favorite male book characters ever, but I definitely found myself liking his character more after he met Claire. The plot was a bit boring and not entirely necessary to the rest of Outlander, but I think it is a good pick for people who love this series and want to fill some time. For anyone interested in reading, I recommend reading at least the first book of Outlander so you'll understand the context of this story. The narration by Allan Scott-Douglas was really good if you like audiobooks!
