The Cheetah thing in the beginning is interesting, and I expect more will come of her, but the majority of this book is spent on Diana facing challenges set to her by the Gods to prove her worth and the worth of the Amazons. It's got a very lovey-peacey feel without being overly lovey-peacey. I think it strikes a nice middle balance. Also, there are some pretty cool demons WW has to fight.

The original(?) reboot of Wonder Woman continues with this volume, which spends nearly all of its time in the land of the gods. If anything, looking back, it's interesting to see how quickly the story tends to stumble a bit when there's not something significant for Wonder Woman to do. A lot of this was finding herself and dealing with the gods, which may have been necessary for plot development purposes, but didn't need 7 issues to cover, either.

Looking at it from where the Wonder Woman story sits today, it's interesting is all. The flaws in the character and the writing get telegraphed very early.

I liked the portions that were in the US and all of the stuff with Wonder Woman & Diana Trevor, but there was way too much Paradise Island in this book. The cover is a bit of a tease too. There's this big picture of Cheetah, but she's barely in it at all. Kind of a drag.

We discussed this series more on an episode of the All the Books Show: https://soundcloud.com/allthebooks/episode-258-imagine-your-story-myths-and-folklore

besides the whole "let's forgive the rapist because he can be a poor misguided soul" thing, this was interesting enough.

Heavy on the Greek mythology, heavy on the superheroics. Add George Perez both writing and drawing... and what's not to love? Covers much of Wonder Woman's relaunched post-Crisis backstory.

This box set collects 4 volumes of Wonder Woman comics from different points in her 75 year run. Each volume shows a different style and interpretation of the character and were chosen very well: they made me want to keep reading each of the stories introduced. (Luckily it looks like DC is going to be reprinting at least some of them).

I actually only read 3 of the volumes, because I haven’t heard much good about the way the last volume portrays WW and the Amazons, and I wanted to end on a high note. These volumes feature good art, characters and stories. I especially recommend the Gail Simone volume which features the (unfortunately) ever timely theme of punching Nazis.
