Moi qui m'attendais a une dystopie féministe... c'est une réflexion sur l'identité humaine. Très bien écrit.

“Perhaps, somewhere, humanity is flourishing under the stars, unaware that a daughter of its blood is ending her days in silence.” 😖

This was genuinely life changing and managed to make me tear up on multiple occasions… </3 the writing was beautiful and intensely immersive in the eeriest way

This book was the best literary fiction book I’ve read all year. I genuinely believe this needs to be taught and discussed in the high school curriculum.

Wow, just wow. Finally took the time to finish the book and was left speechless at the end. A book that made me question what it means to be human. What it means to have lived if you've never experienced so many fundamental things. The beauty and meaning of found community and the pain of losing these connections. The hope after each new discovery that vanishes quickly, till eventually all hope wanes. I really grew attached to our protagonist the child and I was also so hopeful for a different outcome, and to gain insight into the world they're in but there was nothing. Such simple prose but written so beautifully. I'll be thinking about this book for a very long time.

despite all signs pointing against it, this books leaves you hoping until the last minute that you might eventually solve the mysteries of this strange world. as the narrator repeatedly states, she exists in an inherently absurd world—one without discernible reason or logic that could possibly explain why things are the way they are. regardless, amidst the profound despairs and loneliness, i, like the narrator, repeatedly felt moments of hope that one day she might find meaning or explanation; her experiences alone are improbable enough to create that hope. there are so many unanswered questions to grapple with here—can you miss what you’ve never known? how do you measure your life when you’re completely alone? what does it mean to be human? this book is devastating but impossible to put down.

honestly crazy reading this, figured there would be no "happy" ending or atleast any answers to what is going on yet as i kept reading and got towards the end i felt like i was about to get an answer yet never did and couldn't help but feel disappointed. not in a way that the book sucked but just bc i was going through the girls life as she wandered around alone :(( i actually loved reading this book (im also emotional due to my period so im sad about okay bye lmao)

Ohhhhh man oh man this was good! Left with so, so many questions at the end, but satisfied nonetheless.
