I really don’t know how to feel about this book. There was so much to unpack but then nothing at the same time. Maybe because it’s so far from what I’d normally read? I loved it and didn’t at the same time. Cannot wait to discuss in book club.

This book made my heart clench for the possibilities that were closed off to these women. Surviving isn’t really living — love, companionship, and purpose are what define the human experience. It made me reflect deeply on what truly makes us human.

It felt like an otherworldly experience — distant and strange, yet so close to the heart. How can such a short book make me question and appreciate so much about life and humanity?

The writing is beautiful, the atmosphere unforgettable. It makes me wonder what experiences the author lived through to be able to make me feel this way. I want to read everything she has ever written. This book has imprinted on me, and I don’t think I’ll ever stop thinking about it. A favorite for sure.
