What a unique piece. I really didn’t know what to expect, but I ended up enjoying my time. Deeply poignant and full of heart in a self-contained package, which I sincerely appreciate. There is power in being concise, and a shorter piece can contain a ton of meaning.

Appreciate the thought experiment and stark evaluation of an isolated but not contextless world. However, that context is pretty heavy-handedly Christian (and English-speaking), despite overtures at a diversity of origins for the characters. I don’t buy the “everyone was a victim” narrative for the oppressors - robs every person of humanity, agency, and rational rebellion. Measurement of time/distance as a driver is a simple but elegant motor. Shocking how gripping I found it for how little happens. 

Still, can’t help but walk away feeling vaguely insulted? As a woman? As a person? I’ll be glad when one day, my useless and rotting womb disintegrates, too.
