this book was beautifully written and i really enjoyed suri and kiran’s characters and their romance! sometimes the contrast between the two time periods was kind of jarring, but other than that this book was amazing! so excited for the sequel!

One of my best reads this year. I have never yearned this much while reading a book and feel pain at the same time. I love how it is written in a dual POV and timeline because obviously, it's not enough that they are star-crossed lovers, we had to read their past as well. It's also not enough that we have the main characters, Suri and Kiran, to yearn for, we also have to read about Viro and Tarak.
The writing and prose are beautiful and very engaging. It's an easy and quick read, and it is not confusing despite the dual timelines and POV.
The characters are all interesting and nuanced. I love Kiran the most, especially his characterization. The juxtaposition of his fragile mortality and unharnessed divinity in both his past and his present is just so beautiful to read. It's very interesting to read how he explores both his humanity and divinity, all while figuring out his past and what to do in the present.
The mythology and culture in this book is just as captivating. I love how these are narrated and explored in this book. I can't wait to read the conclusion of this duology. I just know that I'll yearn even more and feel as much pain.

THE ANGST. THE ROMANCE. THE TWIST. THE BETRAYAL. THIS BOOK IS LITERALLY EVERYTHING!
