I would have preferred to read a much shorter and more actionable version of this book.
+ This is a relevant and interesting topic
+ It does help me to see situations from a pleasing perspective and question myself every now and then whether I'm doing something to please someone else or myself. It's also interesting that I now more easily recognise when others try to please me.
+ I'm more mindful of recognising pleasing patterns in my children. Hopefully I can help them to please themselves more (while still being mindful of others) and not create some of the patterns described in the book.
+ The good thing about the different chapters is that you can just read the chapter that is revelant to you. In hindsight, I could have probably just read the chapter about work for example
- I feel like there is quite some repetition and the book felt way too long for me (normally I love long books). I would have preferred to read a summary or an article
- I would have liked more actionable tips and tricks to recognise and reduce pleasing. There is a chapter at the end about that, but it still feels quite theoretical
- I just don't feel super excited about the book, wouldn't give it to a friend for example or particularly recommend it. It feels a bit too empty.

Definitely recognised myself in this self help book. Not always an easy read/process to go through. Glad I had bought a copy as it is now liberally highlighted in order to review/reread at a later date.

A must read for most people! Really readable and thought provoking - and importantly easy to (try) and apply in real life.
