This is one of Stephen Kings books I was actually able to finish and could hardly put down. Besides Carrie, Cujo and Pet Sementary I hadn't been able to finish his books. I tried to read IT, I got half way through and gave up because he was TO DETAILED but this book was really good as flowed nice. It was also nice to see how much from the books was changed for the show, there's ALOT that was changed or taken out. Can't wait to start Under the Dome Part 2 tomorrow!

DNF'd (for now) at page 120. I'll probably pick this back up somewhere in the future.

Cannot wait to continue this series. The writing, of course, was absolutely phenomenal. Stephen King is a genius. The way this ends leaves you guessing, and I love how you're left with zero optimism from our characters. I need to find part 2 and read it asap.

I liked the first maybe.. 80 pages. So many characters dead, and then... this book became mundanely boring... I made a joke about it... said it was alien because no one is taking claim to this weird environment friendly dome! Like that will happen lol!

On a beautiful fall day, the small town of Chester's Mill; Maine, is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and rain down flaming wreckage. Cars explode on impact. Families are separated and panic mounts. No one knows what the barrier is, where it came from, and when or if it will go away.

Dale "Barbie" Barbara, an Iraq vet turned short-order cook, was eager to leave town forever; now he's trapped along with everyone else. And when his commander calls on him from outside the dome, Barbie becomes their only lifeline.

This is so much patriarchal and degradation of women character as women have been called bitches, sluts, whores, cunts. Spending time with a man they're not married to automatically means they're suspected of having an affair. Two women have been murdered and shoved in a closet to rot by a man who's now a police officer. He also returns to their bodies, calls them his girlfriends, grabs their boobs, and debates necrophilia.
And incident of international woman's day when women are gang raped by police officers.

This books has :
-Fast Pace
-Lot of characters
-The theme is really well explored
- Some beautiful moments and hardships.
- explicit moments are bad
- plot is good but exaggerated and over stretched.
