This main character is too naive to be believable. Too many eye rolls to continue.

Finished it in a couple hours, I was so sucked in! The writing isn’t perfect, but the characters are fun and it’s just tropey enough to be interesting! Molly is a big city girl but she’s down to earth and working class! Shani is a cowboy but so emotionally vulnerable and like “oh I don’t do casual”. Miscommunication abounds! The sex scenes are good! And realistic ish! I really rooted for them, rootin tootin cowboy lesbians!

I wanted to like it. I really did. Parts of it were enjoyable for sure. The sex scenes were just so so bad though, if I had written them level of bad.

I NEVER read these goofy romance or rom com books. Like ever. They're not my thing, and I prefer sci-fi or fantasy books, usually with little to no romance. So when I went to the bookstore with my friend (who DOES like those books), she handed this to me at first as a joke. I always say that I hate these kinds of books because they're always straight and usually garbage (imo), and I HATE straight romance clichés. But if it's queer/sapphic, I will eat that UP. However, she knew I was (and still am) a horse girl and queer as hell. I joked with her, and then I read the back of the book. I thought eh yeah, seems goofy. I probably won't hate it. Let me tell you, I devoured this book. After a few chapters in, did I pretty much figure out the plot? Yeah, sure. However, it was a fun read. As a horse person, it was hilarious watching Molly know nothing about horses and her fall head over heels for Shani. My ONLY complaint is that I wish there was more of them. I know their story is complete, but call me a sucker for some good queer cliches and I'm in. I'd read the most boring story about their life post this book.
A quick read, but a very enjoyable one. Now that I've found the world of Sapphic Romance Stories, count me in.

Nobody was likeable, everyone was childish. Just ask for help? Like, someone other than Nat? Also she would have at least some knowledge about horses, if she really did spend time at the farm as a child. Just saying. That wouldn't go past without her knowing that a horse has hooves.
So cliché. All of it. And nothing about it was remarkable. I guess there's a reason I stay far, far away from pure romance.

Everyone acted like children… almost no one was likable and by the end I was just annoyed with everybody.
No chemistry, and the writing just felt like it was going in circles. Just the same plot point over and over and—

I'm done with my dumb romance book era (for now) but this was a fun one to close off.
Back to serious books (warrior cats)
Shani, the beer-hating ferrier butch is the best part if the book. I would be besties with her but she hates her local country bar so 🤷

📚 Review: This was cute! I did really enjoy the last half a lot more than the first. The first half had a lot of telling, not showing, and I didn’t like the characters during the first half. The MC was very annoying and the LI was also very confusing and inhuman. During the last 50%, there was a lot more emotion, and I enjoyed the story a lot more. I didn’t feel this was anything special, but I did like the last half and enjoyed the romance for the most part. I felt there was really good communication in some parts, and bad communication (or none) in others. Also within the first like 20% I told the character about the solution to her problem with the farm, and that her best friend sucked. If only she listened to me - LOL. Not my favourite but it was enjoyable.
