Who doesn’t love a best friend’s older brother who just happens to be in the mafia trope? I absolutely ready the synopsis and had to read. What I wasn’t expecting was the world of hurt this would put me through. Autumn definitely had a loving home while her best friend and her brother suffered at the hands of their father.

It really hurt to read what they had to suffer through, even with Alessio doing his best to protect them both. Their father was truly evil. Thing of course was going so well at first for both Autumn and Alessio, but he just had to ruin everything. It ended up hurting the both of them and causing years of pain.

It kept me curious to find out how they were going to work through it and I’m glad I found out. It was really sweet to see the support system they had. The only problem with the book I had, was there were too many side characters and bloodlines that just kept getting way too confusing. Too many people to keep up with, half brothers/sisters, biological/step fathers. If I continue this series maybe I will be able to keep up with it, but for it being the first book it was all a bit much.

It's a no for me dawg... honestly I'm just surprised I even finished it.

This book was bad and I am so confused on how there is sooo many 4/5 star ratings. This is supposed to be a mafia book but the MMC.. I don't even know how to describe him.. hes just not it. He's 40 and his father abused him his whole life yet... he doesn't get rid of him... this whole book doesn't make sense. The FMC my golly... ok so let's start from the beginning... she meets MMC on her 18th bday and he's 15 years older than her and he's instantly smitten goes to make a deal with her grandparents for a marriage contract... then waits 4 years to be back in her life...? Uh ok then all of a sudden boom were together.. and I cannot believe that her bff/MMCs sister had no inkling that they were together when he was never around then all of a sudden he's with them every second he can get.. hardly believable. Then she walks in on MMC and then says don't talk to me and he's like
medium-paced

Moved too fast and slow. And the book was terribly researched.

Nice book but I would have loved for there to be more angst. It had a lot of potential for tension but everything felt too fast and too simple. There were no great obstacle to the relationship between the main characters, the revelations felt flat.
A shame because it could have been really perfect.
What the book did well is the introduction of all the secondary characters. It made me want to read all of their individual books and learn more about them !

It was fine. Parts were a bit too cheesy for my tastes. And the ending conflict just seemed to out there.
