I loved this book!

I loved that all the characters were morally grey - though Eli was definitely more on the villain side
I loved the way the story was told, alternating between past and present but still had this count back feel. I thought it would be difficult to follow but it just flowed so effortlessly. 
I loved the themes and ideas surrounding super human powers - I am a huge marvel fan so that felt right up my alley. I wanted more EOs to be honest haha 

Cannot wait to see where this goes in the next book because it actually did wrap up and feel very much like a standalone

I'll come back to this. Unfortunately in a weird reading slump where I think I need to read something significantly lighter and less-important. Nothing wrong with this book, I'm actually a fan of the premise, but it's not for me right now.

theres a lot going on in this book but i really enjoyed it,, there were times where i had to put the book down bc it was just straight up overwhelming how much was going on, but i will be reading the next one anyway. also i think this book wrote the definition for morally grey characters. 

also  couldve done without so much self harm tho but alas

anyway im taking away half a star simply for serenas annoying ass

I had no idea what to expect from this book. I just knew that the ratings were good, and I wanted to give it a try. And boy am I glad that I picked this up. AMAZING. Such a fascinating world with interesting characters. I wish it didn't have to end. I NEED MORE! That ending was genius and brilliant and so well-crafted, though.

I’ve always loved V.E. Schwab and honestly not sure why it took me so long to pick up this one! I bought it on my kindle during a sale a long time ago but just didn’t pick it up until I found the audiobook on Libby!

Picture a world where EOs (extra ordinaries) with special abilities are made, but not all of them used for good. In this book the bad guys are not who they seem, and neither are the good guys.

While this wasn’t my favorite Schwab book, it was still a solid super hero/villain story and I don’t read a ton of those. I enjoyed it!
