A series of military-style attacks erupts. No sooner do Cross and Sampson join the investigation than Alex is brutally sidelined. The threat to Sampson’s best friend, his partner, his brother, sends him reeling. The patterns are too random, Alex has told him. Don’t trust anyone.

This novel is a gripping and intense thriller that explores the darker aspects of human nature and the blurred lines between good and evil, with a focus on the themes of corruption, military secrets, and the power of the human psyche.

twists and turns!

I loved seeing everything from John Sampsons perspective. Although I expected more from “M”! The plot feels like something that could truly happen. I enjoyed this.

Fast taut thriller, not really an Alex Cross book as he has very little role to play. A bit stretched out at the end ... too much of a good thing perhaps.
fast-paced

One of the best Alex Cross novels I have picked up in awhile. I just can't stop going back to this series.

You could tell right away that this book had a co-writer.  I’m ok with having essentially a John Sampson story, but at points, it didn’t feel consistent with past books
