As a big Dancing with the Stars fan, I really enjoyed this story! Stone and Gina were super lovable characters and it was fun to get a different perspective of dance competition shows like that. There was a bit more spice than I usually prefer, and a few of those scenes didn't feel like they were helping progress the plot in my opinion, so I wouldn't have minded if they were just alluded to or removed entirely.

They had me in the first half like I loved it in the beginning, the introduction to the characters, the palpable desire they couldn’t act on, the dancing itself… but things kinda took a lil fast turn with the way they threw caution to the wind at some point, like it genuinely caught me off guard and went against how hard Gina was riding for her “rules.” The timing was confusing sometimes, like trying to understand what they’ve done in what timeframe/how their relationship has developed, and the ending was ight. Overall, I love both Gina and Stone a lot

This is my third Alexis Daria book and at this point, she's rapidly becoming one of my favourite romance authors because this was another hit for me. I loved the fact that it was inspired by Dancing with the Stars/Strictly Come Dancing (I'm a sucker for dance shows so I knew I'd like this) and I thoroughly enjoyed the burgeoning romance between the main characters. Alexis Daria just knows how to write spicy scenes, too, and her narratives are always fun and highly entertaining.

Thanks to Avon Books for the free advance copy of this book.
- TAKE THE LEAD is a reissue of Alexis Daria's first book. You can see where her writing has improved over the years, as well as what she's always been great at: chemistry that sparks right off the page.
- To be honest, romance novels where the man is so huge and the woman is so tiny have never really been for me, and this book kept hammering their sizes home. Your mileage may vary, of course.
- I did love the dance competition show setting though. All those rehearsals of intimate dances made for excellent tension building!
