What a good book. It’s similar to the first one of the series, that both the MCs have a lot of trauma. It’s so deep, though. These are two characters I feel for on such a deep level and I loved them together. Not to mention the dirty talk!!

Opposites Attract, Grumpy/Sunshine, 3 1/2 🔥

“Getting close to another person was suicide, as far as he was concerned. People eventually walked away, although he wasn’t sure if that was a universal rule, or one that pertained only to him.”

This book was very good. I love Grace and Aaron together. The "forbidden love" aspect linked very well with their instant love connection. I love how confident and resolute Grace is in working towards and doing what she thinks is right. I also loved to see Aaron blossom throughout the book and turn into a more well rounded character than we saw in the first book.

3⭐️/ 3🌶️

Aaron Clarkson was the man with a plan, that plan mainly consisted of going to Iowa, and finding a way to get his job back and into the world of politics that he had been working towards for as long as he could remember. Previously having been in the small town of, Hurley, its other sister, Rita found love with Jasper, and now they were one sibling down on the road to fulfill their mother’s last wish. Once in Iowa, Aaron came across the carefree or as he liked to call her, “hippie”, Grace ended up providing him a way to get a job back. Little did he know at the time that Grace was actually the daughter of Senator Pendleton, the man he was trying to get a job with! With more family bonding, some emotional bits, humor, spice, and all around a good heartwarming bond between the Clarkson siblings, it was another ride for them to go on.

Before this book, Aaron wasn’t necessarily my favorite out of the Clarkson siblings, but I was willing to give him a chance with his story. Aaron was always the serious, career driven person who always had a plan, and for the most part didn’t allow emotions to cloud his judgment or anything. I got the sense that Aaron kept everyone at a distance even his own siblings. This story showed just how much Aaron was affected by the loss of his father no longer keeping in contact with him and even how his once close relationship with Belmont (his older brother) had really strained over the years, and become more tense as was evident in this book. Aaron was also grumpy like the man would only smile when it benefited him for his political aspirations, and when he wasn’t working, he was alone for the most part. This story also showed how Aaron went from being the rude, grumpy, arrogant man to slowing opening up to those around him, and taking a chance on being with someone who was his complete opposite a.k.a. Grace.

If Aaron was the grumpy man, then Grace was the sunshine to him. Grace was unique, creative, joyful, and somehow found herself getting into trouble according to her parents. Grace was also very kind and optimistic about the world, as opposed to Aaron who considered himself being a realist about everything. Grace brought the lighthearted energy into Aaron’s life, and even in her own way she was able to overcome her own difficulties such as, the issues she had with her family (mostly her parents). I thought Grace was free spirited, fun, and her perspective on life made Aaron reconsider a lot of what he initially thought of. Grace was at times kind of wacky with the way she was, but I found it to be endearing and it just goes to show that she went along with what she wanted to do. In a way, Grace wasn’t a rule follower, she did what she wanted, and that was that.

The tension between Aaron and Grace were evident throughout the story, especially with Aaron constantly telling Grace that he 1) wasn’t the type of man to be someone’s boyfriend, 2) that was all kinds of bad and didn’t deserve her, and 3) she was his boss’s daughter. With all that in mind, it didn’t keep Aaron fully away from Grace because, that stubborn man couldn’t get enough of her personality and unique brightness. I loved seeing Grace take matters into her own hands a.k.a. seducing Aaron into finally giving into their mutual sexual tension! Grace wasn’t one to do that kind of thing, but in that instance it was a power move of her own making, and literally showing Aaron that she wanted him however she could have him. Aaron didn’t stand a chance when up against Grace’s tactics to get him, and hey, it bound to happen since they CLEARLY liked each other, duh.

Aaron and Grace were the opposites from one another, but with Grace’s positive outlook on life, and bringing a sense of warmth and peace to Aaron, he was able to reconsider his life choices, and change it for the better. Before this book, I didn’t really like Aaron all that much, but what made this book was honestly Grace. I loved seeing the way Grace was able to unravel Aaron’s grumpy disposition, and show him that he was a good man, and not the negative person he once thought himself to be. Grace’s past was one that completely took me by surprise and it was disheartening to hear what she went through at a young age. Again, seeing the Clarkson siblings grow closer, and work through their issues was great, and I was happy for them. While I wouldn’t say that Grace and Aaron were my all time favorites, I will say that as the story progressed, I found them to be pretty decent (although I much preferred Grace over Aaron haha). With each book, I’m honestly just waiting to get to Belmont and Sage’s book because, even in this book the tension and questions swirling around them had me wanting more of them! Epilogue ended Grace and Aaron’s story on a heartwarming note, and I was glad to see Peggy, Belmont, and Aaron share a loving moment together.
