3.5 rounding up. Very good story overall. I liked the FMC and how she is a bit flawed, but still strong. She wasn't one who had an infinite amount of power to kick butt all the time, which I liked. I didn't quite feel anything for the MMC. He seemed weak to me, though I am intrigued about what he really is after the fire. I also didn't really feel like they had a connection, other than the golden tug I kept reading about. Definitely enemies to friends, but it didn't seem that difficult to overcome? I definitely didn't see the twist at the end. I liked all the characters that were introduced and am happy they will be together again for book 2.

I didn't make it far in, the writing is...generic/cliche/uncreative. I was so excited for the idea of role reversal, but this had very very little environmental description which leaves dialogue that felt very generic and cringe. I wanted to like this...

Yeah, it was just ok for me. Another trials fae book, I didn't think there was anything very original about it. I did like the main characters personality and some of the scenes were entertaining. The audiobook male narrator was atrocious and very well could have impacted my enjoyment. The female narrator was very good though so there's that. I guess your enjoyment would depend on how well read in the genre you are, I think this would be more well liked by teens so if that sounds like you - this might be more enjoyable.
