I really enjoyed Stephen Fry narrating the myths around the Trojan War because he is such a fantastic narrator. I did not like this installment as much as I did Mythos and Heroes because I found it a bit on the surface level at some points.
I believe I owe Stephen fry a little bit of an apology. I read mythos but I don’t think I added any character to what I was reading and so I found it difficult. I enjoyed Troy quite a bit and kept notes that made it easier to follow. It isn’t his fault Greek mythology is confusing. Sorry Stephen

I love when modern authors make classical texts more accessible to the wider public, and this is no exception.
Well written, easy to engage with and follow, a pinch of added humour and a bit of social narrative, and you have a very good introduction to the story of Troy.

Chose to read this via Audible as wanted to hear Stephen Fry as narrator, love his storytelling. Fascinating to go back to Iron Age and reflect on Homer's poetry about Paris and Troy with the myriad of gods/goddesses interspersed in the story. Ancient Greeks vs Trojans ( Turkish peoples) fighting for love, land, Honour and having the Gods meddling in the outcomes. Stephen's taking off the story is very imaginative and graphic. Made a trip across VIC/NSW/QLD go very quickly.
This is the definitive version of the Trojan War. If you’re like me who doesn’t want to read the Iliad and piece together other sources of Greek myth to get a thorough picture of this war, then this is the best thing you can read.
Stephen Fry tells the whole story of the Trojan war, from the humble beginnings of its greatest players to the sacking to Troy. He combines all the same epic themes you get from the source material (tragedy, wit, hubris, violence, etc..) into a beautifully illustrated and fun to read book I would recommend to almost anyone who is interested in or likes Greek myths. Stellar.

A really good retelling of the story of Troy (however I would have liked more on the faiths of some of the men after the war)
Amazing, just as Mythos and Heroes. Stephen Fry is such an exceptional story teller. I would literally listen to him reading his grocery list out loud. He would find a way to make it entertaining and engaging.
