I have enjoyed the last two installments with Andrew’s addition. Back to the quick, plots without holes, that make sense, and provide the ENTIRE story. Lee had gotten away from that for a while, but I am glad I didn’t give up on the series. Keep it up Andrew!!!
Should have been a DNF but struggled through for closure after many fun Reacher books. The other 1 star reviews here sum everything up far better than I can, so I'll just stop writing while I'm ahead, and not make the same mistake Andrew and Lee did.
The 26th Jack Reacher book, like the previous one, this one is also co-written with Andrew Child. Reacher stumbles into a crash and gets involved in rescuing someone involved in a terrorist group. The story is okay, I didn’t find the villain all the interesting or intimidating even though the henchmen that work with this guy are ready to die rather than snitch on him. Reacher does the Reacher thing, the first person perspective caught me off guard. That’s new, it sounded different. Overall, it’s an okay book, it didn’t keep my attention glued but was a pleasant distraction.
Thought about a 4 star but nah. It was a good quick read but same old story. Runs into a situation and of course saves the day. One nice change was that it's been a long time since he fought someone bigger than him (Persuader from however long ago that book was out) so that was fun to read.

This book is great if you're learning English. The exposition is amazing: The room was almost empty. There was a chair against the wall. There was a shirt on the chair. The shirt was folded.
Not the strongest entry in the series... the whole plot is based on a series of impossibly unlikely coincidences.
Cannot believe I blew through this one in just three days! I had a blast reading the latest Reacher novel and although I've been away from the character for some time, it was like coming home after a long journey. The action started very strong and continued throughout with some lulls just to break up the tension. I did a few times think how was Reacher able to be so physical in his actions when he is now supposedly getting on a bit in age - however, it is fiction and I am more than prepared to suspend reality as required. This is the first Lee Child/Andrew Child collaboration that I have read and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is of excellent quality in my opinion. I was amused to see Reacher using FaceID on a phone and actually making some phone calls on mobile as well. The best fight scene for me for the whole book was the one with Mansour at the end. It reminded me a lot of the fight scene with Paulie from Persuader. The entire book was filled with top-quality action scenes, but there was definitely something special about this one. When Reacher stepped on his neck to crush his spine, I literally heard that snap (this is hardly a spoiler - you know he wasn't getting away). I was very impressed with how the authors tied the story into something from much earlier in the series to pull everything together.
I am very grateful to the publishers and authors for an advanced review copy in exchange for an honest review of this title.
I think Lee Child said it best - at the end of the book I was left feeling that justice had certainly been done and the bad guys got more than a stern talking to. Very much look forward to the next book in the series.

Told in first person. Would be fine. But. The ridiculously. Short non-sentences. Just got really annoying by the end. I still love Jack. And all he stands for. But. This format felt like it didn’t work. Sorry.
