3.5 A quality outing for Jack Reacher. I was concerned after the last book by the duo of authors was lackluster and somewhat out of character but this one was on point. Tightly plotted at a sparse 320 pages.

I like these books waaay more than I wanted to.
Lee Child is an evil genius...
Lee Child is an evil genius...
This was a book that your really not sure if it is going to be good for two reasons! One, there is a co-author! (Who happens to be in real life Lee's brother!) 2. Because of a co-author, is this going to turn into a book mill where they just beat the series up and write books just because they can! Put all the doubts in the garbage because the two authors worked very well together, although i suspect that majority of the book was written by Andrew with the lending of Lees name to help. Like every Jack Reacher the reader will not be found wanting! The plot, suspense and excitement is start and finish. For the average reader you will not be able to put the clues together until the story ends. But more for the more Reacher aficionado you might be able to work it out much quicker. Good read and good written book! Kudos to Lee and Andrew Child!!

I suppose with a long-running series like this one, it gets hard to create meaningful character development. That would mean the best opportunity would be through interesting supporting characters, but that never happens in this story. In addition, the main antagonist has an annoying name which I found myself tripping over repeatedly, since the authors loved to throw the name out there on a regular basis. I found intervals of the story which were written in short, choppy sentences to be tedious, and others (Reacher works through the tunnels, Reacher approaches the building, etc.) to feel both confusing and in many ways, not more than filler to make the book longer. I always enjoy the Reacher stories for his no-nonsense approach and badass methods of solving conflicts, but I wonder if the title of this book doesn't speak to the status of the main character a bit. With efforts like this one, perhaps he's....?
