I enjoyed Dumplin' a decent amount; enough to pick up this companion when I saw it was available. I was surprised how much more I liked Puddin' than Dumplin'. Milly was more charming than annoying (I was surprised). Callie was relatable without being watered down, saccharine, or excusing poor behavior. I really thought this was the last perspective I wanted to see from Culver City, but I'm so glad I was wrong.

A cute story about friendship! Definitely check it out if you enjoyed Dumplin' and want to see more of Millie and her posse. Check out my full review at Forever Young Adult.

This book was a delight! It was very interesting and honestly at this point it’s Julie Murphy’s writing, style, and how she executes it. For the same as Dumplin, this book was just amazing, but with dual POVs. I’m so glad I got to read this in my life time. This book also deserves a movie in my opinion.

I wanna read the third one now in the series. But after reading just two of her books I’m gonna say Julie Murphy is my FAVOURITE author. She slays. I’m so excited to read Side effects may vary, as it is on my bookshelf right now.

It’s been awhile since I read Dumplin’, and although I watched and loved the Netflix adaption, I can’t decide which of the books I enjoyed more. But, I definitely liked Millie more than Willowdean, so that’s a big plus for Puddin’. I have to say though, based on the cover and summary, I thought for sure this was going to be much more gay than it was. I honestly think Julie meant for Callie and Millie to end up together and then changed her mind at the last minute, or maybe I’m just reading too much into it. Either way, I enjoyed Puddin’, it was quick and sweet, and Millie deserves the world.

I really enjoyed this book and reading about Millie and Callie. It was fun reading about a character that wasn’t necessarily “nice” or a good person and to see her character growth. The only thing that bothered me a bit it that the friendship between the two girls went from “never really talked” to “almost best friends” a little bit fast. I would have liked to see the in between be developed a bit more.

I decided to read this after the Netflix adaptation of Dumplin’ was released and I loved this book. It was so cute and fun and I genuinely love all of the characters. Millie is adorable as always and I actually like Callie? What?? Julie Murphy did that. She made that happen.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with this book. It’s so pure.

I liked getting to delve into the world of two tertiary characters from Dumplin'. I think I liked this one better than the first, which is hard for a second book in a series or companion book to accomplish.

Definitely better than the first. There's something I just can't stand about Willow Dean and I'm glad she was barely in this book.

I really am picking up what Julie Murphy is putting down. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't feel as strongly about this companion, but I loved it just as much. This story was just as bold and brilliant feeling as Dumplin'. I will say a few moments are a little preachy, but the message is so needed that I didn't mind at all.

The audiobook is well read, the characters are very clear, and overall another great read full of a new take on familiar characters. I enjoyed switching narrators throughout, and found the plot very relatable.
