3.5 stars. As engaging as the first instalment though more gruesome at the end.

Get lost in Shelton's new cozy series featuring Delaney Nichols, shopkeeper at the Cracked Spine, a bookshop specializing in rare manuscripts. You're suddenly on the trail to find a rare edition of a certain book when you come across a very dead man. A fun read full of Scottish jargon and humor. -Anna Q.L.

Delaney and Edwin are neck deep in mystery again. The characters are great but Rosie and Hamlet had very peripheral roles in this book. Elias is very much
SpoilerDelaney’s Watson in this outing. Which is great as I hate it when the heroine rushes into danger at every turn with no thought of backup.
The plot was very detailed and obscured by the past so much so that I had no idea for what the motive for the murder might be until revealed by the killer. If Edwin had

come clean to Delaney with all the details of the old cover up the case might have been solved before anyone else was hurt. I hate that when two characters are as close as Delaney and Edwin for whatever reason are not honest with each other. That’s why I gave the book a three star instead of higher rating.

Still enjoying Delaney and her found family. Though I will say that Edwin and his propensity for not explaining just what was going on was a bit frustrating.

This is a solid 3 to 3.5 stars. It's an enjoyable read. I actually listened to it and the narrator did a great job with the Scottish accents. There was a lot of great scenes between Delaney and her boyfriend Tom, along with Tom's dad and Delaney's landlord/father figure/personal can driver Elias. Lots of secrets from Edwin's past in this, or at least lots of secrets from a particular time frame. For those who haven't read these, Edwin is Delaney's boss at The Cracked Spine, the rare bookshop where she works.

Good little mystery - I think better than the first in the series. Love the Scottish setting and accents. Delaney makes a good protagonist, and this mystery would round and about keeping me guessing till the end.
