If I could give this a 3.5 I would. It’s ok it’s definitely not bad. Personally I felt it was a big drop off from the first volume (which I LOVED). The colour palette was a lot darker and much of the humour and fun was gone, but I do enjoy seeing a more serious and angry aquaman. The first volume stood out to me because it didn’t take itself too seriously, but this one took its arc VERY seriously at the expense of losing a lot of the series charm. I liked seeing black manta as well, but I honestly couldn’t care less about the others. I hope the series returns to form in the next volume.

El volumen 2 es una historia que no pude soltar. Salvo por los cortes de luz, claro. Mi gusto por el personaje aumenta al leer estos comics, si ya lo creía genial desde chica, ahora aún más. Mera te amo.

This is an amazing story arc. It delves deep into Arthur's past and does a rare thing in comics and darkens a superhero's character. The feud between him and Manta is powerful and the stellar art adds to the massive weight of nearly every page.

Really liked The Others team, even though I had never heard of them before. Good use of the Black Manta as a villain. Enjoyed the fast pace too.

In this volume, we get to see a bit of Aquaman's history with a group of superheroes known as the Others. An old familiar Aquaman villain, Black Manta, is hunting down each member of the team in order to kill them and steal the Atlantean relics they are protecting. It's up to Aquaman to find the other members of the team and stop Black Manta before he kills everyone Arthur cares about.

It was interesting to see this side of Aquaman. The first volume focuses a lot on him trying to help humanity in spite of its disrespect towards him so I wasn't expecting Arthur to be quite so dark and brooding...but I like it! I mean, I'm a huge fan of Batman so I'm obviously drawn to the brooding types. After Wonder Woman/Diana's constant faith and goodness though it was refreshing to see that Aquaman isn't perfect. In fact, he kind of comes across like an asshole sometimes. Both in the past and in his present day search for Black Manta, he's relentless and determined to lone wolf it. He doesn't care a whole lot about collateral damage at certain points and ends up having to rely on his friends and Mera more than he'd like.

Overall, I liked getting to see this new side of Aquaman and I'm curious to see where Black Manta's actions are going to put Arthur in the next volume!

Another great story with fantastic art. I want to see more of this new group. I would have given 5 stars but, like volume 1, it just felt like it was missing something.

I never read any old Aquaman comics so I'm unaware of when he used to be "lame", although that does seem to be a common consensus, but the New 52 Aquaman is incredible and this volume continues that story. Seeing Aquaman being beyond competent in combat and the introduction of the Others as side-characters made for another amazing story.

So we've got Black Manta tracking down, killing and stealing the artifacts of Atlantis from The Others (team that Aquaman was in before the Justice League) and we have The Others trying to stop him.
The story unfolds at a nice pace and a nice mix between flashbacks and current action.
Great art, good story, good characters and at the end of the day I enjoyed it, better than average and I'll round up to 4 stars.

Hmm. So, Aquaman still hasn't won me over. It was an entertaining read, and worth it because I could read through it quickly, but I feel like it could have been titled "Aquaman learns (kind of) that he can't do everything on his own." Aquaman/Arthur's petulance still annoys me in this arc. Shrug.
