Baby, you excite me
But you talk too much
Won't stand on a corner
Love you more, oh, yeah

Scarlet, why you wearing my heart on your sleeve
Where it ain't supposed to be?

Scarlet, why you tearing my heart all to pieces?
It ain't the way it's supposed to be

Scarlet, why are you keeping my heart to yourself
It ain't the way it's supposed to be
***The Rolling Stones***

What happens when a Devil meets a little thieving Wildcat? Lot and lots of things: kidnappings, a hostage situation, internal struggles, volcanic eruptions, high impact aerobics, family drama, babies and so much more!

There is no author who world builds better then V. Theia!
That ending needs its own review……

I always said Winter was my favourite V heroine, until I met Scarlett.

There's something about this book that makes it almost impossible to put down.

Axel is grumpy, gorgeous, set in his ways and OMG I adore him!

Read this - Read this now! You won't be disappointed.

Axel's name has appeared before if you're a fan of V. Theia's Renegade Souls MC series and when I began to read his own book in the Diablo Disciples series? I knew I'd find myself intrigued by the volatile President of the Laketon bikers, and this book didn't disappoint in that respect. Alongside Axel, we encounter the woman who will turn his life on its head and make the man curse, laugh and be intrigued, the woman who comes across his path in the most unusual of manners and makes the emotionally wary man become alive again; Scarlett.

Axel is an age-gap romance with several years between the two (something the Prez is all too aware of when his protectiveness for the fiesty bar tender becomes something more - or was it there all along?) Some people may not like this in a romance so if it's not - perhaps skip this book but you would be missing out on V's excellent writing.

I loved their romance and their connection as a whole as we see alongside Axel, Scarlett become alive as the freedom of the MC lets her blossom for the first time. Despite the romanticised nature of an MC, there is a realism of how one can be there true self in the right setting in the same manner a sunflower can grow tall and bright when allowed to do so.

Their tale will put you through the emotional ringer, and my only wish is I'd have liked (so I could hiss and growl in a pantomime manner) more of Scarlett's family and her past. The small glimpses and arrival on family members had me wondering one thing. 'What would Scarlett do if able to confront them either on her own or with the bikers at her back?' Maybe we might at a later date - please?

What I always like in V. Theia's books are how our protagonists communicate, and Axel and Scarlett are especially unusual in it prior to letting love through the door. Axel and Scarlett fight like a stereotypical long-term married couple, and it amuses everyone around them. After all. Isn't love apparently blind But it is their communication when it matters that shows that age doesn't matter when it comes to them, nor should their squabbles be serious when things go wrong. They're a unit, and I love how the two are and how they compliment one another.

Axel is a firm favourite of mine, and I loved the glimpse into the future of the MC and the couple as parents, etc. There's still that fire, respect, and love for one another but also for Roux, Axel's daughter, and her family, which was lovely to see.

You did it again V, you made your MC leave the page, enter our minds, and be as real as all around us. I could almost hear the roar of the bikes, cages, and the smell of the fuel that lingers in the leather of their cuts and jackets.
