There’s been a murder and Detective Murderbot is on the case🦾

The original crew somehow treat Murderbot like their child. And Gurathin is the grumpy uncle.

I had unknowingly started this book a couple weeks back, but then didn’t have enough time to finish it and the skip the line loan had run out, I only had an hour and a half left and I sped through it tonight while working on a craft, but it made me realize just how filler this book was.
It was a great little adventure with murder bought, but very fast.

I really liked this one... possibly my favorite of the series so far. ART wasn’t in it (tragic), but the book makes up for it with new characters, a fresh mystery, and a story that pulled me in right away.

What’s impressed me is how the characters keep getting more developed, even within the shorter novella format. I always find myself wanting more, but I respect that these are meant to be quick, punchy reads, and they succeed at that.

I read this one in a single sitting and felt a little bummed when I hit the last page.

Fugitive Telemetry finds SecUnit on Preservation trying to work with the humans. This was a pretty stock-standard Murderbot book - it didn't live up to the heights of Network Effect. I found the mystery a bit unnecessarily dragged out but liked the way it was solved. Enjoyed the interaction with Gurathin and Ratthi but I wish their relationships with Mb had been a little more developed. The best part of the book was Mb being its usual self trying to negotiate both the attitudes of the Preservation security people and its own desire for independence. Some nice interactions with Mensah here after the events of ES.
