A true master! The language has the potent aroma of something seductive yet fatal. The translator did an amazing job! I truly envy the skills of both artists involved. Also the drawings add to this graand piece of literature that much more! I shall revisit this in the future

I spent half of the book trying to figure out if "the Game" had anything to do with incest- I've decided that it doesn't for my own sanity

Meh. I feel as if this was the sort of book that I would have loved when I was a teenager but now on reading it, it just felt very perfunctory without any great insight or characterisation. Some of it was very funny but I think that the relationships were just too underdeveloped and banal, and the whole thing was surprisingly bourgeoisie. The closest thing that I could compare it to is Vile Bodies by Evelyn Waugh but I think that this is funnier and more successfully satirical.

i don't know anything about Cocteau, so i spent the entire book dreading a Bataille-with-incest turn. so, when it just ended with a teen murder-suicide, i gave a sigh of relief

A quick read about a pair of unlikeable siblings and their deeply toxic, codependent relationship, with strange psychological plays for dominance over each other that fucks everything up for everyone.

I think Cocteau carried a thesaurus around with him everywhere he went over the duration of writing this novella. So. Many. Difficult. Words. Nonetheless a moving story of fraternal love that evolves into a morbid tragedy.
