*I read this via a DRC from Edelweiss*

FIVE STARS ARE NOT ENOUGH FOR THIS BOOK!!!

This is a novel composed of all of the best tropes, honestly. Rivals to lovers, fake dating, Oh No I Have Feelings Now, fake marriage (technically a real one)…and of course the egg baby. The egg baby was what made me interested in this book in the first place.

4.5 / idiots to lovers done to perfection. there were definitely some parts I wish were fleshed out more, like the whole magical boarding school, but this was just a really cute read overall! this read similarly to a fanfic but the best parts of one.

this was so so so soft. it brought my heart alot of joy. Tim Te Maro my beloved, pure of heart, dumb of ass<3
Elliott Parker AAAAAAAAAA
they were truly so soft, fell first, fell harder trope is hot very hot.
also i applaud the accidentally married thing, it's my favorite.
hated when he was like " i feel fat" kinda dumb and useless but alas you can't have everything
AND Meggan omg, the true hero of this story
bi people keep winning<3

A favor:

Charming and lovely. Thematically similarish to Rainbow Rowell’s Simon and Baz series (minus the whole saving the world thing which was a refreshing change) and set in NZ with all the familiar references that come with that. Recommend for anyone who needs something light but with heart. Definitely in the YA genre.

tim te maro's life couldn't get any worse when his girlfriend leaves him for someone else, just months after his dad disappeared. he's just starting to come to terms with his sexuality when his nemesis, elliot parker, approaches him with an offer he can't turn down. when the two of them collaborate on the school-necessitated "baby project", and together have to take care of a magical egg-baby for four weeks, chaos ensues but so do friendship and love.

set in the subterranean space of new zealand, the book is mainly focused on the fox glacier school for the magically adept. it follows the protagonist tim as he discovers himself and finds love. a very simon-baz vibe here.

one of the cutest books i read this year (i haven't read many). the whole concept of the "baby project", though cliché and archaic, is perfectly exploited and drained, for all of its fluffy domestic scenes with the egg-baby. the characters are adorable and endearing. it doesn't have much in the way of plot and the world-building is piss poor, but it's more a romance than a fantasy so i can't really complain.

it's very bold and sex-positive. with a slight enemies-to-lovers arc, it's also warmly funny, leaving me grinning half the time. it's one of the very few ya books set in new zealand so plus points for that. short and magical, it's perfect for fans of casey mcquiston, rainbow rowell and everina maxwell.

rating — 7.5/10

This book is super cute! I absolutely adored it.

A little sweet, a little spice, a little magic, what more could you want?

I loved Tim, I loved Elliot. Love the bi rep, love the gay rep, ugh just loved this book.
