Ik had zoveel verwachtingen van dit boek, maar het stelde me eigenlijk heel erg teleur. Het is heel saai geschreven en alles gebeurd zo traag. Er gebeurd heel weinig in het verhaal dat vind ik heel erg jammer ( vooral in de eerste 300 blz. ) Ik blijf toch de series en de films leuker vinden van de 3 musketiers. Jammer… jammer..

I loved The Count of Monte Cristo, but this one just didn't hit the mark for me. Glad to have finally read it though!

Compelling and fun. The protagonists could all easily be the villains of any books written today and yet can still be rooted for as the villains are even more dastardly. There’s some interesting commentary on religion and pre revolutionary France buried in here which was fun to find and the book was easy to get through, even if longer than it needed to be.

Not what I expected. I thought the Cardinal was the main bad guy but there's someone worse! *Dun dun dunnn* All the characters were ridiculous, but in a good way. Like, "I challenge you to a duel because you insulted my outfit" kind of ridiculous. Very entertaining. Still can't figure out why it's not called the The Four Musketeers...
