I just couldn't finish it. D'Artagnan is a swaggering ass (or at least he starts out that way), and Dumas writes so well that it's like actually having a douchebag right there in the room with you. I don't need to read a book for that experience; I can just leave my house.

What a fun read. It was audiobook so more like a listening to theatre. The end was heartbreaking. Really enjoyed

Oh dear :(
The first half of this book is a cracking read, just as I expected, with escapades aplenty, lots of humour, and a sizzling pace. There's the adventure you might remember from the Michael York film...
Then it focuses on what should be a side story, spends far too much on it, and just when you're expecting that to be concluded and more hijinks to ensue, it changes POV for the next 20% of the book, which is just tiresome.
I would have gone up to 4 stars if the ending redeemed it, but while it's better than the preceding section, it was nothing special.
So, first half - 4 stars. Next quater - 3 stars. Most of the last quarter - 2 stars....
