Terri Blackstock is really wonderful at writing edge-of-your-seat thrillers which involve Christian characters.
Evidence of Mercy gets 4.5 stars from me. The main character is a lukewarm Christian lawyer who gets into a plane crash with an arrogant man who was planning to buy her plane. The story involves the changes they both go through during the ordeal, physically, mentally and spiritually.
I was able to tell "whodunit" right away - if you've read this book, let me know if it was evident to you too!

Rating this a 3.5. Characters are not shallow, Lynda gets a lot of strength once she decides to follow Christ but she’s almost a little too generous? Also, embellish more about Paige and ESPECIALLY the villain; I need to know the past, and I need to know more!!

Possibly my last book of 2019.
I was suggested this book through a patron of mine at the library. She told me I had to/must/make it a priority read it. Now, going into this book, I have very very low expectations. Not only it written by an older women, its also a religious book, no problem with reading about God, but I hate preachy books. But, to say that I was utterly surprised about the likeability of this book is is huge, it really was good.
What I liked:
I loved that there was a suspense element to the book. I loved that the characters for the most part were believable and I didn't feel like it was over zealous in telling you about the goodness and power of God. I appreciated that I was emotionally invested in the things that where happening and couldn't wait to see how it would all turn out. I wanted them to win and it felt believable when it felt like maybe they wouldn't. Maybe the bad guy would destroy all their lives and I would be left with a clift hanger extremely pissed. It was good like that.
What I didn't like:
I didn't understand how Keith got away with so much and I didn't understand after he went to jail that last time how he was just freed again. I started to think these people are really stupid.
While I am a believer, I struggle with the concept that God will strip everything from you to bring you back to him and this idea that God allows the bad. I struggle with that because that idea suggest that God is in cahoots with the enemy and I just don't think he is. I think people suck, people make awful choices and the enemy uses people as pawns to kill, steal and destroy...point.blank.period. I don't think God test people to see if you love him. I think God is always there and we make choices that test his love for us...we are the ones always testing God. Personal belief, but that's how I feel. So, I didn't like these messages in the book. I also wanted Jake to grow the hell up and I hated that it too Paige to tell him, it should of been Lynda or another man.
Overall, I enjoyed it. It kept my attention and now I have something to converse about when I see this patron again. 4 Stars
