This would be a nice book to give to a child with some nonfiction titles alongside. Personally not my favorite writing from any of these authors but it was still good and meaningful.

This is a very unique collection of short stories written by BIPOC women about young women experiencing their periods. It touches lots of different cultural experiences and celebrations. A great read for girls approaching puberty, as well as Moms who are approaching this season with their daughters.
Moderate: Racism
Minor: Abandonment and Child abuse

This is probably my favorite anthology that I’ve ever read. Each story finds humor in the uncomfortable, shows intergenerational support and community care, and deepens the readers’ understanding how diversity among race, ethnicity, and gender show up in the ways people experience menstruation. Also I really loved the mixture of poetry and prose!

Beautiful. Empowering. This is perfect for demystifying periods for girls while still making them feel like thier periods are beautiful things.

This book was very sweet. I loved the different perspectives of each short story. I will be passing this book on to my daughter when it is time for her to learn about this special time.
