I will miss the characters

This book was so much fun and I loved reading it. I am sad it’s a stand alone, because I’m a sucker for a series and I’m in love with the characters! Such a unique world and great plot- I will definitely be reading more

3.5 stars Tandem read with audio and the narrator was fantastic.

“Sometimes, getting lost for a while is the best way to be found.”

It has been no secret that I eagerly devour all the Married to Magic novels (I really love the lore and HEAs) and while I did indeed gobble it up, this did not leave as high of an ending note as I thought it would to the series. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either.

The first part had my attention but then the middle dragged and some of the magic system explanations and plot points were a little nonsensical and weak compared to the previous installments while the ending finally fizzled into a flat, well, end. I unfortunately didn't really feel a strong connection to the characters, romance, or the plot as a whole to really feel invested like I did for books 1 & 3 (both which I loved) in the series. 2 & 4 also had their problems but were a little more impactful than this one. I can say that I feel like there were a TON of world lore drops and references to the other books which I notated down eagerly (it really did keep me going with this book) to try and make connections between them as well as the Dragon Cursed book Elise has coming out next year. I am fully convinced its related somehow, I know she has already said it's a new world, BUT I am still going to be all Pepe Silvia up in my notes about it. I'll also say some of the twists and revelations I didn't see coming. Were they probably telegraphed and I missed it? Yeah but it was still a surprise.

All in all if Elise were to write another book in this world then I will gladly read it and I will continue to reread the series whenever I need a boost of serotonin.

This took a while for me. It felt very icky SA like for a while there, until the real love interest came in. Idk maybe it was triggering in some aspects. Conri is gross af and just v stressful whenever he was on the page. What a gross monster.

This wasn’t my favorite in the series and I’m sad it’s the last.
