First audiobook I've listened to all the way through! Listened on Libby through my local library, highly recommended Libby! Utilize your local libraries!
I throughly enjoyed this book, listening to the escapades of Dot and Crow living in their tiny Arlington Apartment gave me quite a few laughs! This is one of my first creative non fiction books and I have loved it so much!
My biggest dislike of the book is how many girls are offhandedly mentioned in a single story then referenced again later in the book, having to remember all those names was quite a feat! I loved hearing all the fun times those women had though! The book jumps around a bit too much for me which brings my rating down to a 4 instead of the 5 I would love to give it!
I was truly on the edge of my seat while waiting for the news if Japans surrender. I would have liked a bit more detail into the aftermath of Hiroshima and Nagasaki though. It is a minor part of this book and is not really mentioned in a negative light. Countless civilians died and had life altering injuries due to the H bombs that were dropped on them and having a bit more acknowledgment of these women's parts in this would have been nice. Accountability is incredibly important in war!
Fantastic Book! Can't wait to read more non fiction!

Somewhere between a textbook and novel, it could be dry at times. But the lives of these women and what they accomplished I purely incredible!
Fascinating to hear about the efforts and accomplishments of these women. Loved hearing the individual stories and personalities that helped humanize the facts and historical timeline. The writing and storytelling was enjoyable as well.

Great collection of stories of some of the US women who broke the codes during WWII.

Nonfiction and interesting to learn about the critical role that women have played in code breaking even before WW1. Read about 20% and it seemed to be the same story about multiple individuals.
