Some great ideas and all but not for me. It was too much internal. Too long. And kind of dull.

I don't read too many murder mysteries these days (too many other books on my to-read list), but this is such a classic that I finally picked it up . . . and couldn't put it down.  One of those stories that has you catching your breath as it unfolds, and holds you in suspense to the very end.  Might have to find another great mystery to read . . .

this book did not need to be as long as it was. so many words were used to describe a rather simple plot and very boring and unlikeable characters

Flagged a bit in the middle.  I know Highsmith was trying to build suspense and show the descent into madness, but it felt a little too long for me.
