While Blue & Levi are adorable, I just did not enjoy this one as much as I did book 1. It's a bit jumbled trying to decide whether to be a bit camp, a bit spooky, and a bit mysterious, but the styles end up competing for space. It's missing that magical spark for me and fell a bit flat.

Didn't love this quite as much as the first book, but it was still very enjoyable. I would happily read more adventures with these two, and would also like to see a story/book about Will and Jem, which was hinted at. This book was very atmospheric and creepy; Morton really brought the house and grounds alive for me in a way a lot of books don't always manage to. In fact the atmosphere slightly overshadowed the romance this time, but we still got a decent dose.
Moderate: Violence and Body horror
