I loved this book it was so sweet and perfect for any fans of heartstopper
YA rom-com at its best, the cuteness of this book will restore your faith in humanity. The story is quite simple, and although it deals with heavy stuff like bullying and religion, it manages to maintain a light and flirty tone through most of the book. The whole bet thing was really silly and really just a means to get the boys together, and the whole story felt a bit too young at times. The baddie was pretty much a cartoon villain with zero depth, but Kai’s friends and especially his awesome sister made up for it. The perfect summer read
A (not so) typical romcom that I didn't have high hopes for, but it stole my heart by feeling genuine, keeping it mostly light, and having every moment make me silently cheer. There are some real obstacles that the main character has to overcome, but it was nice that they took a backseat to the relationship in this story.

I read this for 2 main reasons:
1- I just love queer love stories
2- the plot made me think of seven days (the manga by Rihito Takarai and Venio Tachibana) one of my first manga owned which has a special place in my heart
I was pleasently surprised to see the manga mentioned in the author's note, as well as other works that inspired the author. It's always nice to see what inspired the author's work and see the connections between the stories.
Now for the book, it was just so great! I cried a bunch near the end (sad and happy tears) and was very satisfied with how things ended up.
All the secondary characters were well thought out and were a blast to read about. Shoutout to Bryson's sister, she was so relatable/funny and I could have read an entire book about her.
Warning about homiphobia from peers and family tho (while probably considered a bit of a spoiler, I prefer to let people know since it can be triggering).
I love that Bryson didn't feel pressure to label himself when he realised he had feeling for another boy, labels can help create a community but can also be stressful for someone just figuring themself out.
I felt that the main couple's relationship was really well done, very believable even with the short time span of the book. They really had chemistry and worked together to build their relationship.
Second honorable mention: Kai's sister.standing up to him when his mom didn't accept his sexuality was so brave and thoughtful of her, I know how uncomfortable tense families can be but she still stood up for her brother/for what's right .
