This was a reread for me.
This time around I grew an appreciation for Leo Valdez. Also, Jason Grace is such a slept on character. I don't understand that Jason hate. He is so unlike Percy Jackson in many ways and he's supposed to be. He had to grow up very fast. Like at 2 year old having to be an adult fast. He's everything that Percy isn't; duty, discipline, orderly, responsibility, and didn't grow up with a loving parent in his life. So I don't want to hear any Jason hate.
I gotta admit I remembered being more found of Piper then I was this read through. I don't know if I realized that Piper isn't really flushed out as a character as the series goes wrong? Or if Rick was just trying to write characters from Percy and Annabeth that the he didn't put much forethought into how the would be received. But I just felt like Piper fell flat this time around.

3.5 stars. The three new characters were pretty good but im kinda pissed that Riordan desided to add Roman gods into this. Everything is so complicated now. I also miss Percy and i felt superior every time when his name was mentioned bc i felt like i knew more than the main characters. i was also shocked when i realized that Jason is Thalia's brother. Like wtf
