I badly want to give a lower rating but my love for the first two books and even half of this book is not letting me. Okay so I loved to the point where Mia was made for something greater than just revenge. And when that something was Godly I was a bit disappointed but still was okay with it. But when Tric was wasted and Ash became next Tric I was super annoyed and frustrated. When the last tithe was paid I was f***ing pissed off and hated the ending. I could live with this series erasing the above-mentioned things from my memory. 4stars coz all this shit happened in the last 20% of the book. This is me being generous.

I’m going to need some time to process all these feelings.

I need a moment....

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! This book destroyed me emotionally...and it was so bloody worth it. I am sad that it is over, but holy mother was it a wild and exhilarating ride!

I won't say much about this book's plot because it is the end of a trilogy and I want to remain spoiler free. However, there is love, loss, grief, greed and friendship all rolled into this and you cannot help but lose yourself in the amazing characters and relationships that Jay Kristoff brings to life in these pages.

Highly recommend this trilogy...just wow.

4.5 stars

Jay Kristoff does not hold back. So many deaths, heartbreak and sacrifices.

Eclipse and Mister Kindly are amazing. And my sweet, beautiful Tric! Love him

The ending was really underwhelming though, so that stopped me from giving it 5 stars. :(

I cried bloody tears.

Forever and ever

I will miss these characters very much. After three books, most feel like family. Isn’t that the sign of a good book? I would recommend this to anyone who loves dark fantasy. The only thing about this series that I found hard to read were the descriptive seed scenes with underage girls…felt creepy to read. Other than that, loved the series.

I so very nearly gave this 3 stars, and I’m still toying with bringing it down. There was less to love about this instalment of the trilogy for me,
compared to Nevernight and Godsgrave.

Primarily, the pacing felt off. Books one and two felt faster and more exciting, and kept hitting boomboomboom with plot points. I didn’t get invested in this until about 350 pages in — 350 out of 526. That is a colossal amount of time for very little to have happened. I barely remember what did occur in that time. Add to this the fact that part of what Mia is working towards for the majority of these 350 pages — destroying the Red Church and its Shahiids and Lady of Blades — is all done and dispatched with within the space of a couple chapters. It felt too easy.

Secondly, I’m personally not a huge fan of the romance route for the book. I wasn’t quite convinced of the chemistry between Mia and her love
interest, but that’s just a personal preference.

Thirdly, and most sadly for me, Tric. Kristoff seemed to do with Tric what a lot of male authors tend to do with their female side characters: used him as a plot device. While this can be considered an unusual subversion of that trope, a tired and used trope it still is. And to have been employed on such an interesting, multi-layered character felt cruel.

Negatives aside, Jonnen was one of the biggest positives for me for this book and I’m happy with how his arc turned out though it did feel at times predictable. He was believably well fleshed out and often funny.

I also really enjoyed the imagery and aesthetic~~ if you will of the climax of the novel. I wished that intensity had been present throughout the earlier parts of it. It did feel slightly disjointed, disconnected to me in a way.

In large I’m pretty satisfied with the conclusion of the book and the series on the whole.

I’m keeping the four stars for now but there’s a strong chance I may knock this down a peg.

rtc, had some issues but damn saucy!
