Don’t love this Batman art or the thought blurbs, which I found kind of confusing to understand at times. This book was good. It wasn’t insane or anything, but it’s a good origin story. It made me really sad when Jim Gordon cheats on his wife—i get what it was saying, but i just didn’t like that part because i like Jim to be an honest man. Even though he redeems himself. Overall pretty good if not a hair too dark at times.

The book is really good. Mazuchelli's artwork is stunning, conveying the dread and darkness spectacularly. The writing is masterful, and truly evocative. Dread, guilt, anger and resolve; all drop tangibly from the words. The plot isn't anything too unfamiliar, but it's executed well enough to be thoroughly entertaining.
