I started this book not knowing if I would like the format, which switches from Sadie’s POV to West’s POV to snippets of a podcast about Sadie and her sister’s lives. I don’t know how it would have differed to read the book in print, but the audio format helped the different POVs come together well. I really enjoyed this book, though there were some things that kept me from giving it a higher score. It is a bit difficult to get through parts of this book, due to the topics. The ending was a tiny bit disappointing, but I understand why the author made the choice to end it that way. I’m glad I chose to listen to the audiobook version of the book. The narration in this book was absolutely amazing.

I'm always down for a dual POV book and this delivered! the written format of the podcast works very well for me and I love the way the story weaves back and forth through sadie and the podcast. a devastating read but well worth it

This book, especially the back half, got me. I was flying through it all. I thought the podcast bits woven with Sadie's narration was pretty seamless, and it was nice to have breaks from each perspective.

But I could never really get into Sadie's voice for some reason. I felt like it was over dramaticized at points and almost felt like satire of thriller novels with the tone it took. It was like the book was self aware of its own plot if that makes sense? I was taken out of it because it was so gritty it was aware of its grittyness. DOES THIS MAKE SENSE. Anyway.

Also,
I'm not a huge fan of open endings. Honestly, I think the fact that the last thing we get of Sadie is that she was hit on the head, I don't know how open it was (I assume she's dead). But I would have liked some confirmation. I like KNOWING.

I loved the dual POV between Sadie & the guy looking for her with her surrogate grandmother; The mix of her first person POV with his podcast transcription. I don’t doubt this must be such a good read on audio.

The suspense stayed with us; despite the characters definately finding something, we didn’t knew exactly what- and we’d have a POV switch to keep us on the edge of our seat a little more.

Out of the hundreds of books I've read...I've never read a book that ended like this one did.
I highly recommend if you enjoy fast paced psychological thrillers, with feminine rage and/or true crime podcasts.
