I see that many reviewers have given this book excellent ratings, but I found it to be over-simplified and felt that it often took the easy way out. The second half is the better part, when Dunbar-Ortiz seems to spend more time developing a case, rather than the somewhat sloppy first half.

This book is incredibly well written and does well at framing the history of the United States from the Indigenous perspective. I read this book for my Indigenous history course this past semester, and she inspired so many amazing discussions and reflections in class. Highly recommend!
