This book is a raw, haunting portrait of one man's struggle with alcoholism - both his own downward spiral with addiction and his dysfunctional family of origin. There are so many layers here - chronic loneliness and shame, the ongoing struggle of not belonging, being caught between worlds as a mixed race Native, and sifting through a childhood of trauma and loss.
Terry poured his heart into this book - both the prose and the gorgeous black and white drawings. A tough read, but well worth it.
TW: alcoholism, alcoholic parents, colonization and anti-indigenous violence
