A 3.5 honestly. Everything just felt like it happened SUPER fast, but in part I suppose that’s because this is part of a series and certain details will be fleshed out as the books continue. I really like both of the main characters and am looking forward to reading more of them — especially if it means we get more info about this world’s magic system, etc.

The other reason this isn’t higher than a 3.5 for me is that the sex happens, surprise surprise, fast! Which is a departure from the other KJ Charles book I read, which seemed to spend more time on depictions of both emotional and sexual intimacy.

Overall though, a fun romp and I can see why people enjoy these books so much!

This book was relatively short, but I kept putting it off because I had a copy and I needed to finish other books from the library.

I enjoyed the mythology of the book and the story was pretty interesting with how it builds magic and practitioners. But I also liked that there wasn't an overwhelming amount of characters either.

It's amusing enough to keep you entertained. A quick read with not the most fleshed out characters.
