Great book. You honestly are in love with both boys. I just wish it had a few more details and had a little bit more plot development. Actual rating is 4.5. Already ordered the next one.
This was a great book. I wish their were way more books like this.
MORE? MORE! @ P.S. I love that book!
This book was the first installment into Dark Elements series which I was reading as read along. However, because I got really sick I could not keep up with the read along anymore. BUT it does not mean that I am going to abandon these great books! I am reading them people and I am reading them hard!
Beyond the fact that is has everything according to Cody I did not really know anything about this book. So you can imagine my face when I got myself into the war between Demons and Wardens and all crazy magic stuff. Like whoah what is happening here? And the drama! No high school level here I tell you!
THE WORLD: There is a human world, a heaven above and the hell beyond. The demons from the Hell want to take human souls and the Wardens sorta sent from the Heaven have a duty to kill these demons and protect humans. So all in all, stupid naive humans are pain in the ass for everybody! Hehe.
CHARACTERS: The main character Layla, yes that is her name. I will never get over it, I mean I am very sorry Jennifer L. Armentrout I think you are brilliant author but the names you give your characters...just a massive no no. Alright, so Layla is not human. She is part demon part warden. I know right? A demon woman found herself in bed of the Warden and ended up being knocked up. Well not that simple. Because of who she is Layla considers herself to be a Mule, in other world a black duck in the pond of while swans. And let me tell you, she is whinny. I mean really. Next we have Warden golden boy Zayne (again name???) aka Stony. He is like a brother to Layla and she is in love with him. He is perfect and Layla is not. He has a pure soul and Layla has a dirty demon blood in her. Well you get the picture. But what makes this book really special is Roth!
Oh yes ladies and gentlemen, the so so awww hot demon who is just damn! I love Roth, I am team Roth and there is nothing and I mean NOTHING that could change it! Roth please save me too from big bad wolf!
LOVE: So far really we have only forbidden love between Layla and Roth. However, there are many implications of Zayne being in love with Layla too. But please Zayne go away! The love story of Layla and Roth is just so Romeo and Juliet! It was just so so perfect and as a bonus content in first book you get a chapter on POV of Roth when he falls in love with Layla and....aww guys if you do not have it in your book let me know and I will scan it for you! It was really the book that had that love story which you will never forget!
PLUS: Again as I just mentioned this book has really good love story. To be honest the whole plot for me was a little bit slow and not THAT interesting if not for the love story. It is really really that good.
MINUS: The Wardens. The Alphas. I mean should not guys sent from heaven be nice and good? It is just like Clave from The Mortal Instruments I am telling you. If I had to choose between Demons and Wardens I would always choose Demons. I actively hate Wardens.
MINUS II: The ending! Omg what was that!!!
EXTRA: It has been a few days since I finished this book and I know I had much more to say than just this but take me on it and please read this book! It is very entertaining and you will not be disappointed, maybe the plot is not the perfection as I hoped but the love story will make up to it I promise!

AMAZING!!
This book was so good I just couldn't put it down.
I like the fact that even though it's a YA book, the female characters is not the chosen one who is a badass and fearless. It makes her more human and believable. I appreciate that. Also thank you Jennifer for Roth.
Story was unique and different, even though most first books introduce the world, this one was not full or boring. I was surprised and entertained at every turn.
Highly recommend it.

We demons are all alike. We covet pretty things, corrupt what is pure and whole, take what we can never have.
5+ stars!
I hate myself for putting this off for so long; it was AMAZING!!!! I didn't think I was going to like Layla as much as I loved Jasmine in BSL, but she ended up being a pretty kickass heroine herself, which I love. She had some traces of TSTL syndrome, but her tenacity and courage allowed me to overlook those moments.
And Roth! ♡ Oh my Roth, there are no words to express my love for him. He is absolutely so much more than just another Crown Prince, and he is one of my new favorite book boyfriends. Gardening, a love for Disney characters and tattoos, piercings in all the right places.....need I say more??
And then there's Zayne, sigh. I really didn't like him as a character or love interest AT ALL. I thought he was an overbearing, selfish prick with jackass tendencies and was nowhere near good enough for Layla. He kept her in the dark about nearly everything, betrayed her to his father, and treated Layla like a helpless child. Sure he may have had her best intentions at heart, but I couldn't see past his condescending attitude to the character we were supposed to admire. Team Roth!!
Overall, I REALLY ENJOYED this novel (no surprise there). I hate the cliffy, so I'm kinda glad I waited till all 3 books were out to start this series--zero wait time! ;)
My Roth, the snarky and sexy Crown Prince of Hell with a piercing or two... ♡

This author definitely does the best job of making you want to meet, love, and give your entire heart too, aliens, gargoyles, and demons. OK, there are no aliens in this book, but I'm still a little hung up on The last series ;-) although I think this series has the potential to be just as fabulous. I think it is just the fabulous character development, Layla, you just instantly like the girl. Then you have the fabulous sidekicks her friends, I mean they just go with it, yes she's a bit quirky but they're her friends no matter what! Of course you can't forget the boys, hot boys, both with an interest, but don't worry about a love triangle, there appears to be a clear winner, and the other one can't ever really physically get involved. A fabulous start to a series that I plan on continuing.
Gah, JLA sure knows how to leave a girl hanging!
I love having authors who I know will not disappoint me with their books. Jennifer Armentrout is definitely one of those authors for me, I seriously have not come across a book by her that I dont end up loving.
In White Hot Kiss, through the eyes of Layla, we are introduced to a whole new world. A world in which Gargoyles are real. And badass. And hottt. Enter not going to happen childhood crush Zayne aka hottie number one. Layla has been raised with Wardens (gargoyles). She has her own backstory and skills, I like her and I feel she makes a strong MC. She is half demon half warden but she has been raised by the wardens to hate demons. In the Wardens eyes demons are the embodiment of all things evil. Makes since.
Enter impossible love interest Roth aka hottie number number two aka most important hottie.
Let's just get this out of the way now. I am Team Roth, all the way. It better happen.
Obviously the romance is hot and steamy but yes there is a triangle. While Roth is the epitome of schmexiness, Zayne is the boy next door. The crushing after Zayne is more angsty and jealousy filled which I find fun to read. Apparently I like self pity. The romance makes up a big part of the story but there is also a lot of things Layla finds out about herself that lead her to find out that the Wardens haven't been telling her everything. Someone seems to have a hidden agenda.
The writing and pace of the story is greatly done. I easily lost myself in the pages and when I came back up at the end I scrambled to find out when the next book will be out.
October. Freaking October.
