I absolutely loved this book!

The chemistry between Layla and Roth felt incredibly natural and the banter between the two genuinely made me smile. I know we all love a snarky bad boy but Roth really redefined the term “bad boy” for me.

The mythology behind the Wardens and Demons was very unique. Usually good and evil are very black and white concepts, but Jennifer L. Armentrout’s take on this was so interesting to read about. I loved all of the background information we were given and how it was given to us organically through the book rather than one large info dump at the beginning.

Finally, I usually hate love triangles. Hate, hate, hate them. They are usually predictable and boring, but this story changed my mind on that. It was very subtle, but so well done that I didn’t mind it at all!

Overall, I’m looking forward to the next one. 4/5 stars!

So good! A must for supernatural fiction/romance fans.

Honestly unpopular opinion but, I don't like Zayne or any of the Wardens. I hated how they treated Layla, and I hated how Layla just went along with it all this time without questioning it until Roth comes along. Super typical setup, nothing new here, I do like Roth even if some of the things he says makes me cringe.

Honestly, I think Layla is a pretty bland character too. I did enjoy the magic and world-building aspects. My favorite characters? Bambi the sassy snake demon tattoo!

It wasn't spectacular but overall I had a good time reading, minus the Warden scenes. I feel like I would have loved this if I read it when it came out, the characters feel outdated, will I continue reading? Probably because I want to see that demon snake tattoo in action and the 3 kitties!

Found it riviting! Could not put it down! Definitely a read again book!

Thank goodness for writers like Jennifer L. Armentrout. She's like your go-to-author, one that'll never disappoint because she'll deliver on every level. Action, check. Romance-Chemistry, check. Witty banter, check. Who knew that demons and gargoyles could be so attractive and that sounds odd but if you read the book, you'll know what I mean. I think one of the many things that I love about JLA's stories is that they never fail to keep me engaged and highly entertained.

"I was raised in Hell. You could say I'm socially awkward."

With that being said, there are some definite similarities between this series and the Lux Series, such as being in true form, Layla not having the same abilities as Roth or Zayne, blurred lines of good vs. evil, etc. I wouldn't say I had an issue with any of that but it's more an observation than anything else.

Two things that really worked for me was the reference to the imminent apocalypse and Layla's ability to literally suck the pure soul out of anyone. Soul sucking really should be considered a super power, just sayin'.

If you like a good love triangle, there is one of sorts but not really. I'm not sure how to explain it and something is definitely there, you can feel it but it wasn’t explored. And who knows, maybe it won't be until the second book or not at all. I know I'm being totally vague but it's all for the best because I hate giving away spoilers. As far as love triangles go, I’ve seen better, so let’s leave it at that.

Layla is on a journey to understanding who she is since she's part demon, part gargoyle and she has a lot to learn about self acceptance. Layla is feisty and can kick some serious tukhus and the back and forth between her and Roth, fantastic.

If you are looking for an ending that will leave you satisfied, you won't get that with White Hot Kiss but maybe hold out for the second book in the series so you aren't left completely hanging. The ending isn't a massive cliffhanger but I was definitely frustrated. I think an ending can be conclusive and left wide open for the story to continue on because having to wait a year for the next book, simply put, blows.

“I lost myself the moment I found you.”

What you can expect is solid writing, great characters and an entertaining story. Definitely enjoyable!! ;)

White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I found this book very interesting. The cover definitely does not do this book cover justice. This novel has demons and gargoyles and IS kick butt.

I actually really liked the gargoyle aspect of this, I found it very cool. The way the demons and the gargoyles worked was very different from what I expected
Spoiler... HOW THEY HAVE WINGS AND LOOK HUMAN BUT THAN CHANGE INTO THERE TRUE FORM.

I enjoyed the writing but we could have gotten a little more world building but than again this is only the first book.

I liked Roth, like really liked him. The two guys though I found to be like such hunks and it was kinda irritating. Like I'm not complaining that there are 2 attractive guys but they were so physically perfect that sometimes it was hard to believe. Plus Layla got so annoying at points. Like with Zayne and that girl she got so jealous. She acted so immature at points. We did have some fighting scenes were she kicked butt but still. Zayne was okay. I like him and Layla as friends but nothing else.

Spoiler... I CAN'T BELIEVE LAYLA TOOK PETRU SOUL AND THAT HER AND HIM ARE STEP SIBLINGS. AND ROTH SACRIFICED HIMSELF FOR THE GOOD OF EVERYTHING.

This book was definitely NOT perfect. Because well nothing is. But it definitely had it's flaw's but was still a page turner. Plus it was pretty great for a first book.

Who doesn't love a good fantasy story with sexy demons and gargoyles?!?! Book 2 is prepped and ready to read. Will Roth reappear? Of course! It wouldn't be a good story without him (or so I really, really hope!).

I enjoyed this so much more than Lux. Looking forward to reading #2.

Love the premise, some of the writing halfway through became very Mary-Sue and made me roll my eyes. Zayne is.... ugh. Blech.
