I loved this book. First book I've read that has gargoyles in it. I have to say, Jennifer is a writing genius. Read almost all of her books and I fell in love with them. Impatiently waiting for the second book to come out in October... :(

As normal with JLA , this was addicting. I finished it within a day. I liked our main character directly. She was a little winny but for a good reason. Then comes Zayne, I liked him as well. He was trying to protect her but he understood what he felt late.
Then what I didn't see coming was that I loved Roth. He grew on me.He was infuriating in the best way.I liked Bambi as well and the scene with the kittens' names.

I am interested in the world as well but have no idea what is coming . Although we knew what will happen in the end, I wished
Spoilerthat Roth would be okay

Needless to say that I liked the romance and the bits of friendship here. I wanted more of Roth and Zayne's friendship with each other and other people as well.

Note:
The name of this book is ridiculous and It stopped me from reading it for a while.

3.5 STARS- Standard Jennifer L Armentrout

I always love Jennifer L Armentrouts books and have the best time reading them, for the simple enjoyment factor of reading her books she deserves recognition!

I’m in two minds about whether to give this book 3 or 4 stars. Is this book as good as my other 4 star rated books? Likely not. However, it was successful in achieving what it sets out to do. The plot was interesting enough and easy to follow, though, I would understand criticism given by other readers. If you were looking for a paranormal/fantasy novel with a complex plot then perhaps this book is not for you. If you are looking for a story with funny, likeable characters and a snarky love interest who is essentially the main plot- then this is for you. Ive yet to come across a book by Jennifer L Armentrout that has left me disappointed.

Oh my, Jennifer L. Armentrout can write bad boys so good. She can make everything they say sound like gold and everything they do make sense, wrong or right. And Roth was no exception, talk about swoon worthy. Roth's a demon so hey, should I trust him? Not sure if I should but I did right from the start, even with the doubts going through Layla's mind influencing me. I liked his swagger and his cheekiness. Another great character from JLA I'm going to swoon over constantly.

I fell in love with Layla instantly, she was strong and had a breezy kinda personality even with her experiences of being shunned by most of the Wardens for being half demon. Layla was brave and ready to kick ass as necessary.

I always love JLA's characters, she creates people you can't help connecting with and root for. She creates heroines who are strong-minded and badass and heroes who are loyal and brave. And both Roth and Layla represent these traits perfectly. Love White Hot Kiss and I'm sad that I don't have the next book to keep going.

I think, had I read this book when it came out, it could’ve potentially been a five-star read for me.
But I did enjoy the story and I’m happy I finally picked up a book by JLA. It was a super quick, fast-paced read that was definitely cheesy at times.
I have the next two books in the trilogy and the first book in the spin-off (I bought the spin-off book without realizing it was a continuation of the first and felt like I needed to read the original series first), so I hope to read those soon before I forget what happened in this book.

Okay, were to start?!.. Because I'm TOTALLY LOST right now..
My heart has been torn out! And I'm fairly certain there's nothing that can fix it for the time being.

The only thing that softened the blow a bit was the bonus scene added at the end of the book from Roth's POV (the scene at his apartment were he and Layla get their 'sexy' on hihi) which makes me LOVE Roth even more now. Goddamned, that's one hell of a LOVABLE Demon.

The story is original, exciting and a real page turner.
The way everything is being described is amazing and so vivid.
It's like you're really there alongside the characters.

The characters are amazing.
I loved Layla and Zayne right away! The dynamic between those two is amazing.
I liked that whole 'we grew up together and have feelings for one another but don't know what to do with them' thing they got going on. But I REALLY hated Zayne at some point, which involved Danyka(how could he act that way towards Layla is a mystery to me. Even considering he is suffering from pressure coming from his father who has a lot of expectations)
But seriously..Ugh..could someone please assassinate that gargoyle girl?? ASAP.
From this moment forward you experience a shift in the Layla/Zayne relationship which I completely understand. If I were in Layla's position I would feel like crap too and would want to stay away from those two as far as I could possibly can. He just drops Layla like she's nothing to him, which she is but the way he acts doesn't make it look like that to Layla at all and it just sucks. Further on in the book he grows more spine and stands up for Layla, but at that point I was already HOOKED on somebody else haha..

And that's where Roth comes in the picture; BAMMM..
your whole world turns upside down when you meet him hihi
He's a bit like Daemon from LUX but then in a demon form, I think.
He's got that sassy thing going on, which i LOVEEEE.. and obviously he's totally freaking HOT.
Layla/Zayne got that sweet relationship and Layla/Roth is from the first moment like; hot, sizzling, electrifying relationship even though she can't stand him a lot of the time in the beginning haha. But that's what makes it fun. I love that kind of dialogues between characters like those two.
And he accepts Layla for who/what she is right away, he can appreciate her strength and is just forward with his thoughts about her combined with those sassy/funny comments.

For me there never was a dull moment, I just wanted to keep on reading and reading.
The story develops really well. It has action, originality, romance and a little bit of sexy scenes, humor from time to time and it ends with an exciting and thrilling action scene which leaves you HEARTBROKEN.

You really 'feel' Armentrout in this book. You really feel that she puts her everything in her stories and characters and I love it. I love her writing so much. You get hooked instantly and can't stop reading. You laugh, you ache, you cry, you love.. right along with the characters as if you are really there! So for the ones who are thinking about reading/buying this book series; this really is a MUST read. Not only for the readers who are already familiar with Armentrout's books but alsof for the ones who haven't read anything by her yet... This book leaves you aching and breathless and makes you want more and more..

This started off really cringey and almost unbearable in terms of writing (unironically reminding me of Zodiac Academy) but then it got better as it went on.

Roth made the story for me. The world was definitely interesting as was the plot but Roth was the reason to keep going. I loved his flirty banter and how he acted around FMC. The FMC kept describing him with a “sweet” scent and all I kept picturing was dark chocolate.

Ok, Bambi was pretty cool too. A demon having a familiar that is attached to them via body tattoo? That’s too freaking cool.

I did feel some parts were harder to get through than others and felt myself taking more breaks than I should be. I just wasn’t as invested as I would have liked to be.

3.5/5 need more Roth.

I love that gargoyles vs devil plot and also the mystery of Layla trying to discover who she really is. It is so addictive. A quick, fun and solid reading.
