One word for me on this book: Roth. How much do I love Roth. I know, Zayne is the one we're all supposed to root for, he's the good guy, the guy that Layla grew up crushing on and he's sweet and kind and all the rest. But Roth.

I've read this series twice and I'll read it again in future, no doubt. So, the story. Gargoyles are real, they're actually wardens who can adopt human or almost stone-like warden form. They hunt demons, and Layla lives with the wardens but doesn't belong fully to that world but she can 'see' demons, tag them so that the wardens can go out and hunt them. Layla is half-warden, half-demon so she can't take warden form and she can't kiss anyone (or can she?) because she will drain them. So Zayne is her best friend, who she's been crushing on forever but he almost treats her as a little sister. Then we meet Roth. Crown prince of hell, full blooded demon and bad boy. I love Roth. Love, love, love Roth. I can't hear Paradise City without thinking of him now. Bad boy with a crush on the 'good' girl - little cliched maybe but I did love this book so much.

And that ending, I was almost broken by it. Couldn't wait for the second instalment, it seemed to take forever.

This book was amazing. The action was great, it was well written and you could cut the tension between Roth and Layla with a knife

The reviews weren't lying, this is one of those Mary Sue YA novels where the heroine is oh so special and all hot boys are falling for her even though she definitely doesn't think she's hot and she just tries to be normal and live her life, people!!
Nope. Let's just not. I'm too old for this.

Demons vs. Wardens (gargoyles). Our protagonist was born from both, raised by wardens, showing only demon abilities. She uses those abilities to help the wardens kill demons. There are 2 love interests.

Not sure how this title was determined.

When i started reading i was not sure if i was gonna like it but i ended up loving it. this is the kind of book you wanna have it on your shelf and reread it
