Me ha gustado muchísimo, he disfrutado desde el inicio. Este es mi primer acercamiento con la autora, y en definitivo puedo decir que su forma de escribir me ha enganchado.
Layla es un personaje cuya personalidad me ha caído bastante bien. Roth, ni se diga.
Y todo el tema de los demonios, guardianes/gargolas, me ha parecido muy bien y bien abordado, no siento que haya quedado a deber con eso.

Meh. So I bought this book a long time ago, probably thinking it would be a fun and exciting read, but it ended up being only okay for me. The writing is typically juvenile, which is something I recognize is characteristic of JLA, but in the past I was able to look past it enough to enjoy the plot and characters. This time, I don't think I was in the mood to look past anything. I doubt I will continue with this series.

Let's be clear for a sec here. This is not Young Adult. It's more New Adult. Or at-times-pretty-hot-Young-Adult. But you won't hear me complaining. For the bigger part of this book I was so afraid that in the end it would just stay okay for me, but then the last 30% happened and it changed everything. This is everything you would expect from Jennifer L. Armentrout. A cool, original story with a literally breathtaking romance.
Layla just wants to be normal, but she's anything but. She's half demon, half gargoyle and she has abilities no one else possesses. With one kiss, she can kill anything with a soul. But she still tries to fit in even though she has a dark side she hides from everyone. Even Zayne, one of the Wardens - a race of gargoyles that hunts demons to keep humanity safe - she grew up with, who she's had a crush on for a long time. And then she meets Roth. A very hot, tattooed demon who seems to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but let's be honest, that's impossible. Especially since the whole no-kissing isn't an issue because Roth doesn't have a soul. As if that's not enough, Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising and trusting Roth could end up in the end of the world.
I'm not really good with books that feature religion in some form. Heaven and Hell and all that is kind of in that category so I was a bit hesitant at first but I wanted to give it a try because I love Jennifer's writing. And for the most part of the book it was okay for me. I mean, the writing was awesome, the romance was amazing and I loved Layla a lot, but still it didn't sit right with me. I felt indifferent to it all but at the same time I couldn't stop reading. And then, when I hit the 70% mark that changed. It started kicking serious ass and now I just HAVE to read the next book.
Like I said, I loved Layla. She's not only a cool, strong female lead, she's also pretty original. I mean, half Demon, half Gargoyle? I never heard that before. And she can kick some serious ass too. I loved her friends at school, Stacey and Sam. They are that bit of normal you need in a book like this. At least I do. And then you have the Wardens, who are practically her family. Zayne, Abbot, Jasmine,... They're gargoyles. That's just cool. And last, but definitely not least, Roth. He's hot, cocky, pretty hilarious and a demon. Jennifer really knows how to create swoon-worthy men.
So in the end I'd say this is a great book and even though I've never seen that cartoon everyone seems to think about with this book, I think it's safe to recommend it to fans of it. It also kind of reminded me of the TV-show Supernatural in a way, so if you love that, check this out too. And maybe fans of Anna Dressed in Blood too. A great, original story with a romance that took my breath away. Guess that's expected from an author as great as Jennifer. Now give me book two, 'kay?

The last 2 chapters thoroughly broke me. I still can’t get over what happened at the end of this book I’ve had to skim the next one to see if it was rectified and I’m still NOT ok.
I love Roth the Demon Prince of Hell, he is just everything and so much more. I’m living for his jokes and his very explicit innuendos. I loved Layla too but I hated how she saw herself, but that had to do with how she was brought up so I don’t like them too. BAMBI is beautiful and she needs protecting I loved every times she came into a scene and Thumper I need to know more about him.
There are some steamy scenes in this book which are really, really well done. The plot is amazing, the characters are *chefs kiss* perfection.
This is one beautifully done book. I love it so much words can’t describe how much I love this book. I need to pick up book 2 ASAP
